Recognising talent in young people, which is seen in their passion for the region, is one of our primary commitments.
In October 2016, the Mantua University Foundation announced a competition seeking ideas from students enrolled in and attending a degree course in Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano – Mantua centre, with regard to the environmental, functional and architectural redesign of an abandoned property and/or area located in an urban setting in the city of Mantua.
The competition’s subject, fully in line with the objectives of the announcement to award the title of Italian Culture Capital, interprets the value of cultural leverage in terms of social cohesion, integration, conservation of identity, of growth and of economic development for both individual and collective well-being, by proposing a theme of urban regeneration aimed at the “Environmental, functional and/or architectural redesign of an abandoned complex and/or area located in an urban setting”.
Participants we left to freely select the context of their intervention, explaining their choice in a report to accompany the project.
21 entries were received from as many working groups made up of third-year students and students studying for their Master’s degree. The jury, made up of the Director of the Mantua University Foundation, the holder of the chair for urban regeneration at the Politecnico di Milano - Mantua centre, the councillor for urban regeneration at the Municipality of Mantua and the Marketing Director at Novellini spa, decided to recognise 3 projects and to mention the same number, noting the number of participants and the quality of the work presented.
